Agra and the Taj Mahal

This city is in the state of Uttar Pradesh and an absolute must for any visitor to India, purely because one of the 7 wonders of the world is here – yes, the Taj Mahal. Without the Taj Mahal, Agra probably would not get so many visitors, but there are other sights here.

Taj Mahal

One of the new 7 wonders of the world. Built by Shajahann for his wife and love of his life, Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their 14th child. Built for love, words cannot describe and pictures cannot capture this wonderful monument.

Tip Get there early to avoid long queues. Only take money and a camera with you, as just about everything else has to be left at security and this can cost you a lot of time. Bottled water is given out with the tickets. Video cameras are allowed as far as the first platform and then have to be checked into the lockers.

The Taj mahal is CLOSED ON FRIDAYS!

The Taj Mahal can also be seen from the banks of the River Yamuna.

Agra Fort
Sprawling Fort on the banks of the Yamuna River, with views to the Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan, the man who built the Taj Mahal spent his last days imprisoned here looking over to his Taj Mahal.

Baby Taj Mahal

Mini Taj Mahal on the outskirts of town. Definitely worth a visit.
